Double Black

Double Black
Imperial Black IPA - One of the most extreme, and yet deceptively quaffable IPAs we've ever crafted.  As such, we call it Double Black and it's not for the faint of heart.  It's got an amazing balance of black malts and hops with an intense depth of character of rich malts, but not too heavy.

First featured during the Opening Reception at the Big Beer Festival in Vail in January 2012 and paired with a spicy pork empanadas.

Seasonal Brew

Pack-it-in Porter Classic
Pack-It-In Porter Classic ™
Our Porter is a English-style Brown Porter. It differs from a Stout in that there are no roasted grains, making it smooth and very quaffable.

The kind of beer that's worth packing-in to the backcountry. Its also a very versatile beer that we often customize...(see other variations below!)

Flagship Brew
Pagosa Poor Richard's
Poor Richard’s Ale ™
THE commemorative brew for Ben Franklin's 300th Birthday!
Champion Brown - Colorado Sate Fair '11
Silver Medal Brown Ale – North American Beer Awards ‘10
This Colonial-style beer is a modern interpretation of a beer that Benjamin Franklin could have savored in his lifetime. Our award-winning, ORIGINAL recipe was brewed by over 100 professional breweries throughout the nation (including including Anheuser-Busch!) It's a great tasting amber/brown ale thanks to American ingenuity of using an indigenous New World ingredient, corn. During the brew, we also add a touch of molasses (the everyday sweetener of the Colonists) to give it a slight spiciness and to offset the documented hop shortage of the time. One of our most popular flagship beers!

Old Kommie
Old Kommie ™
Created by homebrewer Jason Cox of Pagosa Springs.  It was the Best of Show at the 2011 County Fair homebrew competition.  As such, it was selected as this year's Pro-Am (Professional/Amateur) entry.  We took Jason's recipe and scaled it up from a 5-gallon homebrew size to a professional 170-gallon batch.  Old Kommie is brewed in the style of a Russian Imperial Stout, which is the darkest, richest, and most intense of all the stouts.  It's got massive amounts of dark and caramel malts, yet with enough bitterness for balance... making it amazingly smooth and quaffable.  На здоровье!
